Engineering and Production trade shows

Bridging the gap between a working prototype and mass production demands reliable contract manufacturers and manufacturing partners. Following trade shows may connect your team directly with both. But there are also some threats.

Is worth mentioning that those events are naturally larger compared to the others. The reason behind this is very simple. The subject area is much broader. On the one hand, it comes in handy because many more potential customers attend those. But on the other hand, it is far more difficult to stand out from the surrounding competition.

Engineering Designs Show

EDS is concentrated around embedded designs, electronic design, and mechanical design. More than 4500 visitors may take part in 50+ different conference sessions. The show is dedicated to engineering professionals involved in turning ideas into working products, as the organisers say. It is mainly directed to electronic design engineers, embedded systems engineers, and many more.

Advanced Engineering UK

Without a doubt, one of the biggest Engineering trade shows in the whole of the UK. What makes Advanced Engineering unique is its scale. It focuses on seven key topics, among which: R&D and Design Engineering; Clean Energy and Net Zero; and AI, Digitalisation and Automation. Attending the event on such a scale surely is worth considering for IoT-related companies.

Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2027

Another huge event on our list is Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2027. Over 570 exhibitors demonstrate live production equipment and custom electronic assemblies. Managers from aerospace, defense, automotive, energy, metal processing, and many other sectors visit Farnborough to look for new supply possibilities.

Tech trade shows

Hardware shows handle physical board design. But Tech trade shows focus more on the software ecosystem running on top of the physical device. The size of those events is also slightly larger, because it covers more than IoT exclusively.

Because scaling connected products requires aspects like dependable cloud infrastructure and fleet security, these events are strictly IoT-related. Company leaders and software architects attend to compare enterprise software, refine data pipelines, and manage remote device fleets.

Britain Connected

Backed by official UK government departments and telecom giants, Terrapinn hosts a digital infrastructure forum at ExCeL London. Unlike standard software expos, the agenda revolves entirely around the foundational connectivity layer and mapping out national 5G. If your IoT business deploys cellular fleets or smart city sensors, you will probably find valuable contacts here.

  • When: September 9-10, 2026
  • Where: Halls N1-N9, Excel London

Cambridge Tech Week

Unlike other single-hall trade shows, it is a city-wide deep tech festival that bridges scientific research with commercial enterprise. It is definitely the longest event on our list. It begins on 14 September and lasts for 5 full days. For that time, you swap standard exhibition booths for university showcases and venture capital roundtables.

For an IoT business owner, the event offers direct access to networking with edge AI pioneers and investors funding hardware scaleups. It is surely an interesting event to attend and have a nice discussion. But if you are looking strictly for an exhibition, it is not for you.

AI World Congress

Designed as an executive summit rather than a sprawling expo hall, this London event centers heavily on keynote presentations and strategic panel discussions. Attendees navigate targeted track sessions alongside a compact networking village reserved for software demos and startup pitches. That is the place where you can exhibit and show your edge AI innovations.

Tech Show London

This is one of the biggest and most complex events. Cloud and AI Infrastructure, DevOps, Cloud and Cyber Security, Big Data and AI world- if anything mentioned seems interesting to you, Tech Show London is a place to be. The last event was attended by more than 19,000 professionals, making it the biggest event on that list.

Retail Technology Show

Awarded AEO’s Best UK Tradeshow, Nineteen Group hosts their biggest show at ExCeL London. Over 15,000 store executives gather to upgrade inventory management and customer analytics.

Retail Technology Show also connects conference panels with the exhibition section. But here, the exhibition plays the key role. For your IoT company, the floor shows immediate commercial demand for connected hardware like digital shelf tags and smart in-store sensors.

London Tech Week

Rather than a quiet industrial expo, the space is split between corporate strategy tracks and startup showcase areas. You can meet international buyers at dedicated nation pavilions or examine live robotics builds running inside The Sandbox demonstration zone. According to the London Tech Week page, it also features some great speakers like Mati Staniszewski (Co-founder of ElevelLabs), Aravind Srinivas (Co-founder of Perplexity), and many more.

LDX3 by LeadDev

Formerly run as LeadDev London, this well-established summit is currently undergoing a rebranding to LDX3. Past editions focused heavily on engineering leadership, developer experience, and scaling tech teams, but the future program has not yet been revealed. It remains unconfirmed whether the new format will mirror previous years.

Canceled or withdrawn

It is worth mentioning that just because a trade show took place last year does not mean it will happen again this year. Event organizers regularly alter their calendars and quietly drop long-running shows without warning. Sometimes organisers try to rebrand and refresh the existing format, but in such cases they announce it on previous communications channels.

We gathered a few examples of such IoT-related events that are not running this year with zero details about potential rebranding on their official websites:

  • WIRED Health (London) 2026-04-16
  • SME XPO (London) 2026-04-22
  • London Calling (London) 2026-05-19
  • EI Live (Farnborough) 2026-09-23

Recomendations

So now: which trade shows should you attend? After reading this whole article, that is a very reasonable question. However, we do not have a quick, direct answer for that. It really depends on your core goals and expectations.

For example, large events pull in massive crowds and offer high foot traffic. Yet, big shows carry real risks. You can easily drown in the noise and risk not being noticed.

Start by narrowing your selection to your exact IoT niche. Do not waste budget on general tech fairs that don’t feature your IoT field exposition. Dig into the specifics. Read the exhibition details carefully. Evaluate booth prices, visitor demographics, and check past exhibitor lists.

Focus strictly on your company’s current needs. Use this guide as an initial launching pad for your own research.
